3i Methodology

Hobnob’s 3i Methodology is a comprehensive set of courses designed to focus on the various aspects of college readiness and career preparation. These courses — Introspection, Interaction, and Internship — are intended to provide students with a framework for increasingly deeper and more focused career exploration. Read below for descriptions of these three courses.

Introspection: Discover What Drives You
Hobnob’s Introspection curriculum helps students gain the self-knowledge necessary for successful leadership development and career exploration. The Introspection curriculum accomplishes this by working to help students understand their passions, talents, and values and how their unique combination of these attributes can serve as a personal compass for life decisions. During this course, students develop actions plans for leadership development and career exploration. The activities incorporated in Hobnob’s Introspection curriculum balance the self-knowledge gained through personal contemplation with the critical feedback gained from a fun and collaborative peer community. We emphasize these two elements through a variety of activities, discussions, readings, videos, and take-home assignments.

Interaction: Learn From the Leaders
Hobnob’s Interaction curriculum provides students with the training to contact, interview, and follow up with educators and professionals so that they can confidently use personal interactions to help them make educated decisions about their future. The activities incorporated in Hobnob’s Interaction curriculum build a foundation for students to explore their college and career options by first grounding students in how to identify, build, and reach out to their networks before beginning to conduct in-person meetings. We build student confidence toward these endeavors by applying a scaffolding technique of layering lessons upon lessons, by pairing students up for their encounters with professionals, and by setting aside time in session to share students’ best practices.

Internship: Field Test Your Fit
Hobnob’s Internship curriculum teaches students the real world skills they need to make the most of their work experiences. The activities incorporated in Hobnob’s Internship curriculum teach students the basics of finding internships and service opportunities, and take them all the way to the lessons of how to succeed in their new position. Ultimately, the Internship curriculum helps students leverage the successes they have experienced and contacts they have made in their new workplace.
