Hobnob Spotlights: A directory of career information

During the Investigation phase of the 3i Methodology, chapter members work in teams to conduct

informational interviews with local professionals. Using semi-standardized question lists,

students record these conversations and edit the resulting media into single Q&A snippets.

This simple editing allows for the creation of a media database of career information that

can be cross-referenced with info gained from other students' spotlights. Each Spotlight serves as

a tool for students to showcase their career research to professionals and as a resource for other

students to learn from.

Eventually, we plan to build a database that filters videos in different ways (the professional being

spotlighted, the question being asked, etc.), but for now we're simply categorizing Spotlights by the

question asked.

By creating a framework for students to share recorded career experiences, Hobnob aims to

transform a generation of students looking for personally meaningful work into a grassroots movement of

career journalists. Helping students conduct career research to find work they'll love is powerful;

empowering them to share their career research with each other is game-changing.

Below we've showcased a few examples of Spotlights; if you think other questions should be asked,
